Sarasota Guitar Company Opens on South Tamiami Trail
Sarasota, FL – When seasoned entrepreneur Scott Cook decided to return to retail, the focus of his new venture was a no-brainer. The songwriter/musician understands the financial pinch that musicians face in a difficult economy. So he took his artist inclinations and combined them with 25 years of retail management experience to come up with the Sarasota Guitar Company, Sarasota’s first musician-owned, musician-run store providing guitars and guitar accessories at musician-friendly prices.
Sarasota Guitar Company carries hundreds of guitars—electric, acoustic-electric and acoustic—all offered with a 125 percent price guarantee. “We are a great alternative to the big box stores and chains or the mom and pop outfits that carry a variety of instruments but don’t necessarily focus on guitars,” Cook explains. “We carry one of the largest selections of guitars in southwest Florida and we back them up with a 125 percent price guarantee. If you can find the same guitar at a lower price—either locally or online– we’ll give you the difference in price, plus 25 percent of the difference in price.”
Along with its new guitar line—Sarasota Guitar Company is an authorized dealer for Dean, Washburn and Parker brand guitars, to name just a few—the company offers other brands such as Fender, Martin, Taylor, Takamine, Kramer and Jackson under its Certified Guitar Program. Certified Guitars are B-Stock or pre-owned guitars that look and play like new. “We stand behind all our guitars one hundred percent,” says Cook. “Our Certified Guitars are guaranteed to be good as new. If the customer is not completely satisfied they can return the guitar in 30 days, no questions asked. We also offer a one-year warranty on each Certified Guitar.”
Cook wants his store to be a gathering place where musicians are comfortable trying new instruments and working on new material. “We have something for everyone. Whether you’re a student, a head banging rocker, a folksinger, or a classical guitarist, we have created a place where you can be comfortable just hanging out and making music.”
Sarasota Guitar Company is located at 4333 S. Tamiami Trail, Suite A, Sarasota, FL; 941-924-8321.

In this economy, it’s worth shouting to the rooftops when a business opens. Enter Sarasota Guitar Company, a musician-owned, musician-run store providing guitars and guitar accessories — and that musician is Scott Cook, a singer-songwriter with 25 years of retail experience. “We are a great alternative to the big box stores and chains or the mom-and-pop outfits that carry a variety of instruments but don’t necessarily focus on guitars,” he says. His store is an authorized dealer for Dean, Washburn and Parker brand guitars, to name a few, and also sells Fender, Martin, Taylor, Takamine, Kramer, Jackson and others under its Certified Guitar Program. Certified Guitars are B-Stock or pre-owned guitars that look and play like new. “Our Certified Guitars are guaranteed to be good as new,” Cook says. “If the customer is not completely satisfied, they can return the guitar in 30 days, no questions asked. We also offer a one-year warranty on each Certified Guitar.” Cook’s dream is to make his store a gathering place for musicians. His grand opening is Dec. 5. Sarasota Guitar Company is at 4333 S.
